When WH Bence received a call from their photographer Rich McD asking for help with a community project, we were delighted to help out!
With the Britain in Bloom judging imminent, the Sodbury In Bloom team were devastated to discover that vandals had destroyed one of their displays, along with the resident ornamental heron (affectionately known as Richard II). Poor Richard had been the target for vandalism a few times. Bence MD James Brown asked our resident fabricator Craig Perrett to design and manufacture a new “vandal-proof” heron in time for the judges’ arrival….
And…. “Bence” the Heron was born……along with two babies! The trio were a huge hit with the Sodbury in Bloom team, so we invited them to the Bence factory in Yate to meet Craig and to have a tour of our facilities.
We are keeping our fingers crossed for a positive response from the judges, and hope that Bence the Heron (and his offspring!) enjoy a long and happy life down on the river. Below is a short video clip showing the fabrication of the Bence heron babies, showcasing the skills of our talented staff.
